AIHS: A Vibrant Hub of Culture and Healing

American Indian Health & Services (AIHS) holds a special place in our hearts. Since its beginnings on Milpas Street—when Coastal Band members helped establish it in 1994—generations of our community have benefited from its medical care, community programs, and dedicated spaces for Native people. Our tribe continues this 30-year relationship by hosting an annual Indigenous Market, leading cultural activities like beading and regalia making through the Community Wellness Department, and holding Tribal Board meetings at the newly renovated AIHS facility. These efforts support cultural preservation, economic opportunity, and strong governance—all rooted in a shared commitment to care and community.
